Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With String

A happy Sunday morning to you all, I looooove Sundays, favourite day of the week. I use my lazy day to catch up on my housework, watch the F1, cook a lovely roast dinner, its free range corn fed chicken this week, yummers! and just generally enjoy a day in my flat where I don't have to worry about getting dressed or putting on makeup, no one wants to be bothered with all that jazz every single day of the week. Today I thought I would share a few of my favourite things, stuff i've been loving lately. But first I would like to say how amazed I am with bloggers that manage to keep posting on a regular basis. I have a list of 37 posts/ideas that I want to blog about but am not disciplined enough/available enough to sit down and put my fingers to the keyboard. So I take my virtual hat off to you all, mega props for being so awesome!

Moving on to the good stuff... or the slightly boring stuff once you read what's coming first. New contact lenses, I have struggled for about 3 years with finding contacts that work for me because my eyes are and I quote my optician here "a hostile environment for contact lenses". Basically my tears disperse too quickly, which means they're too dry for most contact lenses. But i'm trial-ing a new type and they are amazing! So if you suffer with dry eyes, check out the Oasys lenses.

Yep that's right, exciting stuff here at AGirlWrites, haha! Moving on, who watches Downton Abbey?? I dooooooo.  I was ill about a month ago and decided to start watching my Downton dvds, I'd asked for them for christmas three years in a row and never watched them. My how that has changed, as I was saying, I was off work ill for about a week and got so addicted to the show that I watched every single episode there has ever been in about 4 days. I'm so addicted right now, I literally went through cold turkey once I'd watched them all, especially give the HUGE cliff hanger at the end. I'm counting down the days for the next series.

Incidentally in case you were wondering, Tom is my favourite character, very very closely followed by the Dowager Countess, Dame Maggie Smith is just absolutely fantastic. If you've not watched it, I really urge you to, the first 3 or so episodes are a bit slow, but after that it's just completely brilliant the whole way through.
Now I have to RAVE about the new Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation and Powder. I have wanted to try it ever since I saw Missglamorazzi's video review. I really like light foundations because I don't usually need a heavy coverage. I get occasional spots/blemishes and a little acne scarring around my jawline but nothing that requires something like Estee Lauder's Double Wear. The Nearly Naked is a great little foundation for everyday wear and the powder is just beautiful. I never really got on with the Colourstay foundation from Revlon, so i'm really pleased it works so well for me. I got mine in Superdrug for the super cheap price of £8.99 for the foundation and £7.99 for the powder. Shade-wise I wear Nude in the foundation and Light in the powder. My favourite all time foundation is the MUFE HD one but it's very expensive and hard to get hold of in the UK, this is a really great alternative and one I can already tell i'm going to keep repurchasing.

Finally lets talk about exercise, trust me I'm the last person I thought would ever be so positive and happy about working out. My friend Charlotte and I recently joined our local Virgin Active gym and i'm so pleased that i'm doing so well with it. It took me a few weeks to get into a rhythm but now I love it. I've increased the time I can work out for and actually enjoy doing it. One thing I have learnt is that you can do a LOT more than you think you can, work through the pain barrier and you will surprise yourself.

That's it from me for today, other than a few honorable mentions: earl grey tea, Twlight Breaking Dawn Part 2 dvd, cross stitch, cheesestrings, baking, Wreck It Ralph, drinking lots of water, Cineworld Unlimited cards and shopping.

Have a great day!

Snow Daaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

Okay so it's not a snow day in as much as I've had to come to work, not sit inside in a comfy armchair with a  dog-eared classic novel and a hot chocolate swirled with whipped cream and fluffy marshmallows... oh I can dream though! But just look how pretty it was when I left my flat to go to work this morning. I am definitely a snow loving girl, it was no trouble getting up early this morning because the first thing I wanted to do was rush to the window in tremendous anticipation of snow and whilst it wasn't the two foot or so i'd hoped for it was certainly better than nothing!

Christmas & New Year in Espana

I almost glanced over this but as I wrote about it in my last post, I thought I'd just go ahead with it anyway. I spent Christmas and New Year in Spain, my Mom and Dad bought a house over in Los Dolses, Orihuela this summer, which is sooooo exciting and I hope I get to use it a lot. We all had a fab time, the weather was really good, sunny and warm enough to wear shorts everyday which made it worthwhile making the trip over.

There was a brand new shopping centre which had only just opened, which I spent many an afternoon strolling around, not spending any money (YEAH RIGHT!!!). The Zara Home shop was my absolute fave, so beautiful, I've never seen one of them before. Do we even have them in the UK? I got the most perfect leather diary and new quilt & sheet set from there. They also had the best Primark ever, it was amazing. A thousand times better than our Primarks, everything beautifully placed on hangers in size order... bliss! I am turning up with an empty suitcase next time I go. I will do a little post of my favourite things I bought whilst I was over there, just in case you were wondering!!

Christmas morning was spent joining all the locals on La Zenia beach, with a toast of Champagne and an 8 course lunch to follow after that. I was more stuffed than i've ever been on Christmas Day and a little more than tipsy! We went to a New Years Eve Gala, with oysters (first time i've ever tried them and I loved them!), a motown singer, fireworks, etc... A smashing time was had by all I think.

Whilst I really enjoyed myself over there, nothing will ever beat an English Christmas for me. In my opinion Christmas should be cold, snowy, thick festive jumpers, lots of scrummy food and having all your family and friends around you. Some of these things just can't be replicated abroad.

Oh and I almost forgot to tell you I won €98 at Bingo! Yay me!

Happy New Year

Well hello there, how nice it is to see you again! Happy New Year to you all, I hope 2012 treated you well and that 2013 is even better!

One of my New Years resolutions this year (more about those later) was to get back into blogging and actively make time for it in my schedule, not flitting here and there life I have done previously. I really do enjoy blogging, writing and planning have always excited me so I have no idea why I never devote any time to it or put it further on my list of priorities. But anyway, moving on... I have a lot of ideas of what I want to do with my blog this year, so I hope you enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy writing them!

I spent Christmas and New Year in Spain this year, waking up Christmas morning and going to the beach for a champagne toast was pretty awesome! So cheers to you all, thanks for sticking with me.

I'll leave you for now with my 2013 resolutions, there are only a couple, as making a huge list and sticking to none of them is really worth very little!

1. 'Just BE' - My word to live by in 2023, BE happy with what I have, BE what I am with no apologies, BE involved, BElieve that everything will turn out for the best.

2. 'Get ORGANISED' - I am generally an organised person with plans and things like that, however I am a complete train wreck when it comes to ORGANISING myself. I have stuff everywhere, I have no routine when it comes to getting up early and making the most of the day, I waste a lot of food because I don't decide what I want to cook for the week before doing my food shop, so being more ORGANISED will help me a lot.

3. 'Live in the MOMENT' - Stop worrying about what is or isn't coming, what will or won't happen and just enjoy the NOW!
